If you're in Denver on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday and are looking for a certain kind of excitement, check out the Mile High Marketplace (aka Denver Flea Market). It is a sight to behold.
My brother and I went last time I was in Denver and here are two tiny treasures that I found. Just over an inch in diameter, these costume rhinestone pins have wonderful detail and originality. I wanted to keep and admire them forever but used one of the beauties this weekend on a new piece. It sits on a molded brass drawer pull to great effect, I think.
There are permanent stores at Mile High but the part I like is outside and free-form. Backs of pickups, tables, boxes, trailers, a blanket on the ground . . . this is informal shopping at its best. Go on a nice day, as early as you can (it can get very hot), wear a hat, comfortable shoes and sunscreen. Don't forget a bag for your fabulous finds.
